FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Barrie, Ontario – Wednesday September 24th, 2014. Pratt Homes, Barrie’s largest builder since 1890 is moving full steam ahead at their Yonge Station development this week
Monday night in our nation’s capital, Pratt Homes won the Ontario Home Builder’s Award of Distinction for Best New Home Sales Office under 1500sq. ft. for their Yonge Station presentation centre located at Yonge Street and Madelaine Dr in Barrie’s south end.
“We were absolutely thrilled and honoured to have been nominated for the award, but to win among such strong competition was an incredible feeling. All the nominees created outstanding sales centres. ” said Heljar Hansen, Co-Owner of Pratt Homes.
Not only is the Yonge Station sales centre remarkable, but the outside area possesses something no other residential development in Simcoe County has; public art installations from a world renowned artist.
In April 2014, Pratt Homes installed the Spirit Clock, a land mark art installation by artist Ron Baird, at the corner of Yonge Street and Madelaine Drive last spring. The Spirit Clock design was inspired by Barrie’s famous Spirit Catcher, which was also created by Baird, and is the premiere piece of art in a series that will be installed throughout the Yonge Station community. The unveiling of the Spirit Clock was met with an overwhelming response from the Barrie community.
Wednesday, September 24th, Pratt Homes is installing the third piece of outdoor art to accompany the Spirit Clock and main entrance sign. The new piece of art is called Wheelie, weighs 3800lbs, stands 25ft feet tall, is a kinetic sculpture with ten pieces that move in the wind and will reside inside central park.
“It’s exciting to see the project moving along so well” says Karen Hansen Co-Owner of Pratt Homes, “We hope the members of the Yonge Station community will enjoy Wheelie as much as we do. Ron really designed a stunning collection of art that will have a lot of impact on Yonge Station and the South End of Barrie.”
The OHBA award and new art installation come during a week where Yonge Station is hosting a grand opening for its final phase of construction. New floors plans and prices for their 72 unit condo building known as the Grand Central are being released for sale this Saturday September 27th at 10:00am at the sales office on Yonge Street and Madelaine Drive. Last spring hundreds of people attended the inaugural grand opening and showed an enormous amount of support and excitement toward the community. They expect this grand opening to be no different.
